The Compass Card is reusable, reloadable and it offers new flexible pass choices. When you first
purchase your Compass Card, it will be a calendar monthly pass. From then on, you can reload your
card as either a calendar monthly pass or a 30-day pass.
- Calendar monthly passes are valid from the first to the last day of the month.
- 30-day passes can be reloaded on any day of the month to receive 30 consecutive days of riding

- Use a Ticket Vending Machine at any transit station
- Go to a MTS Transit Store or NCTD Customer Service Center
- Reload on this site
- For auto-reload call 511 and say “Compass” to speak to a customer service center representative; you can automate your monthly pass payments with your credit or debit card

Description: The Premium Express monthly pass or 30-day pass is good for rides on MTS Bus, MTS Shuttle, Express, and Premium Express buses, all Trolley Lines, NCTD BREEZE Bus Routes and SPRINTER. The Premium Express Pass also is good for a $2.00 discount on COASTER fares. The Premium Express Monthly Passes are not valid on ADA Complementary Paratransit Services or on Special Stadium Routes. For Senior (60+ Years), Disabled, or Medicare recipients only. Proper photo identification (driver’s license, Sr. ID Card, Medicare Card, MTS or NCTD Senior/Disabled ID Card, DMV Disabled Placards ID) is required to ride the MTS system with this pass. You may add your photo to the Compass Card and that can serve as your identification for transit discount passes.
For stated month unlimited riding on all regular Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and Premium Express Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and North County Transit District (NCTD) BREEZE buses and SPRINTER trains, and the Trolley. Cash upgrade required on San Diego County Rural Routes and the COASTER. Pass must be retained by user during trip, and shown on request. Proof of eligibility (as listed above) must be shown upon request.
